Jeffory Michael Groves

Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, and Respected Professional
With profound sadness, we announce the untimely passing of Jeff Groves, a standout personality in the Maryland commercial real estate sector and a treasured member of his family, who has left us due to natural causes, just shy of his 54th birthday.
Born into the bright warmth of California, Jeff embraced a spirited childhood that would shape his zestful approach to life. Relocating to the East Coast in his school years, he discovered and nurtured his love for tennis, skiing, and an enduring enthusiasm for sports. Jeff was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins for most of his life.
After exploring other areas of the country, Jeff returned to Maryland and began his career in commercial real estate. Jeff was a market-leading broker with more than 20 years of experience representing a broad range of clients in suburban Maryland. Jeff was recognized by the Prince George’s County Chamber of Commerce and Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation for his expertise and proficiency.
Jeff’s heart was always with his family, as a beloved son to his mother, Ann, a brother and confidant to his sister, April, and her husband, Mark, and a guiding light to his niece Arianna, and his nephews, Reagan and Michael. His early friends, Mark Sherwood (Malaika) and Patrick John (Melissa), remained as his ‘bonus brothers’, with their children, Trae, Isabella, and his goddaughter Juliana, embracing him as a doting ‘bonus uncle.’
A man with a big heart, Jeff also had a special place for his canine companions, especially his English Bulldog, Wilma who lived a long and happy life. His advocacy for bully breeds led him to adopt and profoundly change the lives of two more dogs, Winnie and Fiona, who are now in the loving care of his family.
Remembered for his full-hearted embrace of life, his generosity of spirit, and the indelible mark he left on those he met, Jeff’s absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. His stories, laughter, and the strength of his presence will be deeply missed.
To honor the life and spirit of Jeff Groves, a celebration will be held at one of his favorite spots in his adopted hometown of Eastport – the Boatyard Bar & Grill, on the Corner of Severn Avenue and Fourth Street, Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Friends, family, and colleagues are invited to join in remembrance of a man who truly embodied the essence of living fully and loving generously.
An additional celebration of life will be held for Jeff’s friends and family on the Outer Banks of North Carolina at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Jeff’s memory to bulldog rescue organizations, a cause close to his heart. We carry the memory of Jeff with us—a beacon of affection, resilience, and joy—and pledge to cherish the legacy of the love he so freely gave.

Sending my sincere condolences to all of Jeff’s family and friends. It’s hard to believe he is gone and I’m very saddened by his passing. May he rest peacefully and may his memories be a blessing.
What a wonderful friend. I'm at a complete loss. I adored the dogs. His personality was a beaming light filled with laughter and kindness. Looking over at the condo without him in it breaks my heart. We met walking our dogs and I got to know him so well since I cleaned there and walked the dogs when he had a long day. Winnie was a wild woman. She and Wilma had so much strength going down those stairs. I will miss him, since he was like a brother to me. May God shine on a soul that left the earth way too soon. Rest in peace beloved friend. I pray for healing to all of the Grooves family. 💔
Ann and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. What a wonderful man he was and I’m sorry I never met him but reading about him and knowing you, Ann, I feel like I did. Keep the happy memories alive and then Jeffery will never die, he’ll be with you always. Hugs and Prayers!!
Oh Jeffy. 😔 I adored this man more than he ever knew. Jeff was 1 of the kindest..loyal..most humble men I've ever met. Not to mention the absolute funniest! That man could make an entire room laugh with tears..with just any old one line. He was special. I loved spending time with him. I was his Assistant for many years when I 1st entered Commercial Real Estate as an Admin. He was calm..patient n supportive when I was 1st learning. But it didnt take long working together before we became extremely close. I've often thought Jeff n I were soul mates that weren't meant to be together. Our bond was different than just coworkers. Oh what might have been. I will never forget u JeffyPoo (my nickname for him)..u stitched yourself on a portion of my heart forever. My deepest condolences to his Mom Ann..his sister April..n his niece n nephews that he absolutely adored more than anything. Until we meet again. Rest Easy my friend. Xoxo
