James “Stroke” Wagner

November 12, 2013

James “Stroke” Wagner peacefully passed away Tuesday November 12, 2013.  He was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Mildred “Mim” Wagner and his grandson Casey R. Logan. He is survived by his son, Ron Dunlap (Diane), daughter, Lin Logan (Bob), son, Jim Wagner (Lori), five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and his dearest friend Nellie Schuyler and her family.

Jim was born in Ohio, graduated Hamilton High School and Cedarville College.  He served his country for 35 years in the U.S. Navy.  He tested the F4 Phantom as a Radar Intercept Officer, served as Combat Information Officer aboard the USS Enterprise during the Viet Nam War, and also served as Operations Officer for N.A. S. Oceana.  After retiring from the Navy in 1982, Jim worked with Flight International in Newport News, VA.

“Stroke” was a familiar face around Oceana’s O’ Club and Aero Pines Golf Course.  He could be seen with his signature cigar and boyish grin.  The world is just not as much fun without him in it.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers a contribution in his name to the Virginia Pilot’s Joy Fund would be appreciated.
