James D. Stubbs

Kitty Hawk- James D. Stubbs or “J.D.” as he was known to family and friends- passed peacefully on July 31, 2013 in North Carolina. He was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina on Sept. 2, 1940 to the late Kathleen and Cecil Stubbs. J.D. spent most of his life in Virginia Beach proudly serving as a Norfolk Police Officer for 25 years. After retiring in 1987, he worked several years for the U.S. Naval Safety Center and later moved with his wife Elizabeth, to the Outer Banks to enjoy his retirement.

J.D. Stubbs is survived by his wife Elizabeth; his sons, Donald (Kathy) and Michael (Ellen), four grandchildren and numerous extended family members, fellow officers and loyal friends.

In lieu of services, J.D. simply requested to be remembered for his love of the Police Department, the beach and his dog Blu. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

The family sincerely appreciates Fred and Faye Williamson, Carolyn Stubbs and the staff of Sentara Nursing/Rehab Center for their support during his extended illness. They extend a heart felt Thank You to Miranda and Gail for their special care.
