Jack A. Blades

Kill Devil Hills – Jack A. Blades, born in Somerset Pennsylvania on December 11, 1935, died August 25, 2023 peacefully at home in Kill Devil Hills North Carolina. Jack was preceded in death by his parents James and Edna Blades; brother, Paul Blades; and sisters, Janet Stutzman and Ruth Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Blades; his sons, Steven Blades, Michael Blades and partner Annie Fritz, and Scott Blades and wife Jamie Parker; and his granddaughter, Alexis Moore.
Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was retired from the United States Postal Service. He will be laid to rest in the woods that he loved in Stoystown, Pennsylvania. So sad to hear about Jack. He was an icon at the YMCA and I used to run into him at the Front Porch Cafe after he had finished his walk. He will be missed by all the folks in the YMCA coffee clutch. I was glad to call him a friend.
