Grace Catherine DePalma

Grace Catherine De Palma of Southern Shores, NC passed away peacefully on January 14, 2018.

Born in North Bergen, N J. July 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Alfred & Florence De Palma.

Grace is survived by a son Ron Ryan and wife Sharon of Southern Shores, NC, Brothers, Charles De Palma of New York City, NY., Alfred De Palma of Hamburg, NJ., Sister, Florence Casazza and husband Phillip of Pompano Beach, Fl., brother, Joseph De Palma and wife Ester of Pompano Beach  Fl. Grand Children, Meredith Westmoreland of Raleigh NC., Christopher Ryan and wife Claire of Brooklyn, NY., Great Grand Children, Julia Westmoreland and Sydney Westmoreland of Raleigh NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews from around the country.

Throughout Graces’ life she was given the nick name of “Amazing Grace” and amazing she was, in so many ways. Grace was active and highly successful in the business of selling real estate, winning numerous honors and awards. Grace’s career in real estate started in Norfolk Va., eventually her career lead to opportunities in other areas including Virginia, Florida and then to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where she really did shine. She enjoyed great success, had a lot of laughs and made many friends while working at the communities Colington Harbor, Old Nags Head Cove, Outer Banks Beach Club and Sea Ranch II.

Grace was a very independent woman, quiet by nature, sometimes fragile, but always resilient, she was persistent, never one to give up, she was a survivor. She was a true optimist, very upbeat, always looked on the bright side of things, a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. She was also an avid reader sometimes reading several books a week, biographies and auto biographies were her favorites. She also took great pleasure in introducing the joy of reading to her Grand Children.

Grace was kind, loving, generous and compassionate, a first class lady who is loved by many, she will be greatly missed but her loving spirit will live on.
