Gerald Walter May

Manteo – Gerald Walter May of Manteo, died April 2, 2017, a few days before his 84th birthday.  Born in Milwaukee, WI on April 18, 1933, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Gertrude Henke May. He was also predeceased by his brother, Raymond and his nephew, Ryan Lee.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 year, Deanna Potts; their son, John D. May (Lisa); and four grandchildren, Charlie, Rebecca, Guinevere, and John-David all of the Chicago area.  He is further survived by his sister, Dorothy Lee of Wisconsin and his brother- and sister-in-law, David Woollen and Sherry Potts of Virginia Beach, VA.

A long time member of Grace Lutheran Church Jerry was also an avid fisherman, bowler, and singer.

At his request, no services are planned. If desired, donations in Jerry’s name may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, Feline Hope or a charity of choice. Jerry’s cremains will be scattered near one of his favorite fishing spots.
