George L. Mann

September 2, 2018

Manteo – George “Buck” Lyon Mann, Jr. of Manteo, NC passed away on Sept 2, 2018 at 56 due to complications of cancer.

He is survived by his children, Cassie Cochran Lopez (Rico) and Tim Cochran (Jodie); grandchildren: Jade Cochran, Catalina Lopez & Dash Lopez; two sisters, Mary Beth (Mann) Dinger (Steve) & Candice Mann Derringer; Niece & Nephews, Amanda Dinger, Steven Dinger & Tyler Dinger; his former wife, Lisa Mann; his adopted family, the Wilson’s; Aunts Peggy Walker & Hazel White (Jimmy), numerous cousins; lifelong best friends, Charles York and Murphy Creef, as well as the crews of the Outer Banks Marina and Oregon Inlet Fishing Center.

A Manteo native, born to George and Patsy (Bradshaw) Mann, of Buck’s Seafood, Bucky grew up on the water and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Many remember him for his wonderful ability to tell a story and often told Buck he should have written a book.

Buck always had a smile on his face and never knew a stranger, just a friend he hadn’t met yet. Making friends was one of his greatest talents.

He was well known for his fresh seafood cooking, shedding crabs and cleaning fish.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to one of Buck’s favorite places on earth – Cades Cove in Tennessee Friends of the Smokies, P.O. Box 1660, Kodak, TN 37764. https://friendsofthesmokies.org/
