Galen Leroy Truesdail

Powells Point- Galen Leroy Truesdail, 69, died July 5, 2021 in Elizabeth City, NC while recovering from a serious fall.  He was born in Owego, New York the son of Frederick and Josephine Truesdail who preceded him in death.

Galen was hard working and liked being his own boss.  He started and ran his own landscaping company in New York.  In 1995, Galen moved the business- Truesdail Lawn and Garden to Currituck serving customers throughout Currituck County and the Outer Banks. Once here, Galen met his future wife, Mary Miller, and the two ran the business between Mary’s shifts at the Kitty Hawk Home Depot. As the business grew, several other family members kept it going strong. Galen loved football (especially the Giants), loved to hunt and loved spending time with his family.

Galen is survived by his wife, Mary Miller of the Powells Point residence; one daughter, Kelly Costen (Timothy) of Massachusetts; two step-sons, Rusty Miller (Ashley) of Manns Harbor, NC and Chris Miller (Nellie) of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Alexis, Brett, and Bryce; and two great-grandchildren, Temperance and Freya all of Massachusetts, as well as other relatives and friends.

As Galen wished, he will be cremated simply with no memorial services planned. In lieu of flowers, the family is gratefully requesting donations toward Galen’s medical and cremation expenses made directly to Gallop Funeral Services, Inc.at 252-216-8030.
