Francis Edward Stoudt

Kill Devil Hills-Francis Edward Stoudt passed away on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Sentara Heart Hospital, Norfolk, VA. Frank was born and raised in Allentown, PA, a graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War as an Aviation Electronics Technician on the aircraft carriers USS Princeton and the USS Yorktown. He returned to Pennsylvania and attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa, graduating in 1960. He married Mary Corinne Sitison on March 18, 1961. He retired as a computer systems analyst from the Fleet Materials Support Office, US Naval Depot, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

Frank and Mary moved to the Outer Banks, NC in 1994. Frank enjoyed living in BayCliff and volunteering at the Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Garden. He was an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer with the Dare County Center of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.

He was son of the late Peter Enos Stoudt and the late Margaret Mary Eberts Stoudt. He is survived by his wife Mary and his three children David Stoudt, Laura Katz and Julie Bowman and Julie’s spouse, Todd Bowman. He will also be dearly missed by his three grandchildren, Madelaine Katz, Reece Katz and Jeremy Bowman.

In accordance with his wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of his life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes be forwarded to the Outer Banks SPCA, PO Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954 or the Dare County Master Gardener Volunteer Association, PO Box 968, Manteo, NC 27954.
