Frances Ellen Collins

Frances Ellen Collins, 88, died Thursday February 8, 2007 at her residence in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. Born May 6, 1918 in Moncton New Brunswick, Frances E. Collins was the daughter of the late William A. Gillis and Mary Ethel Shay Gillis and the wife of the late William Patrick Collins.

Frances immigrated to the United States in 1924 and resided in Dorchester, Wilmington, Reading, and Andover Massachusetts with her husband and son, Peter.   After her husband’s retirement and until his death in 1994 she resided in Griffin, Georgia. In addition to making a home for her family, Mrs. Collins worked in a variety of industries as a quality control supervisor.

Left to cherish the memory of Frances is her son Peter M. Collins (Janis) of Kitty Hawk, three granddaughters Kelly (Neil) Brackin of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Kimberly (Thomas) Ritchie of Fairfax, Virginia; and Katie Collins of San Diego, California; four great-grand children Morgan Brackin, and Riley Brackin and Abbigale Ritchie and Colin Ritchie; and  sister, Theresa Gillis Maynard of Billerica, Massachusetts.

A funeral mass will be held at Saint Dorothy’s Catholic Church in Wilmington, Massachusetts Saturday February 24, 2007 at 11 O’clock in the morning. Burial will follow immediately after the service at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be forwarded to Dare Home Health & Hospice PO Box 1000, Manteo, North Carolina 27954.
