Erma Delorse Gore
Manteo- Erma Delorse Gore went on to glory February 24, 2009 in Barco, North Carolina.
Erma was born in Manteo June 22, 1939 to the late William D. Daniels and Mary E. Simmons Daniels. Erma was preceded in death by her brother Roy Scarborough and her daughter Fredia Oates.
Erma graduated from P.W. Moore High School in Elizabeth City and went on to graduate from Elizabeth City State University with a degree in education. She was employed as a teacher for many years in the Plymouth North Carolina schools and in several Maryland schools. She eventually retired from the Virginia public school system but enjoyed working as a child care provider in recent years.
Erma returned to Manteo where she was faithful member of Free Grace Disciples of Christ Church and a trusted sponsor of church programs over the years. Erma also sang in the Free Grace Choir and enjoyed cooking for her family and church family. Erma will be remembered for her humor, honesty, and loyal friendship to many.
Left to cherish Erma’s memory is her son Manfred A. Gore of Baltimore; her daughter Monique Gore of Manteo, one brother, Leon D. Daniels and wife Ella of Manteo, three grandchildren Leslie Grissett, and Mary Gore and Iesha Gore all of Manteo, two great-grandchildren; a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held Saturday February 28, 2009 at 3 O’clock in the afternoon at Free Grace Disciples of Christ Church in Manteo. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral at 2 O’clock. Free Grace Pastor Carrie G. Holmes will officiate. Interment will follow the funeral at Free Grace Cemetery.
