Elemta Marie Payne Walker

Columbia – Elemta Marie Payne Walker, age 81, died Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Peak Resources Outer Banks, Nags Head, NC.   She was born July 11, 1936 in Salvo, NC.

Marie was a devoted homemaker, caring for her family and had been employed by the Surry County School System.  She was strong in her faith in God and warm hearted to all she knew.  The family wishes to express their thanks to the Peak Resources staff and caregivers.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Jethro Payne and Elemta Payne; infant son, George Johnson Jr.; infant grandson, Allen Johnson; three brothers, Leonard Barnett, Hezzie Payne and Thomas Payne and sister, Naomi Miller.

She is survived by her husband, William P. Walker; brother, Junior Payne; sons, Joseph Johnson, Kent Johnson, Jeff Walker and wife; daughters Melba Johnson, Addy Morse and husband, Sandy Holland, Terri Harris and husband; and 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

The family will honor Mrs. Walker’s request for cremation. No services are planned at this time. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. of Nags Head, NC is entrusted with arrangements for cremation.  Condolences to the family may be expressed via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
