Douglas Marx

Point Harbor- Douglas Marx, 49 years old passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2015 at Chesapeake Regional Hospital in Chesapeake, VA.  Doug was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on January 6, 1966. Douglas died from complications due to acute B Cell  Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He had also been paralyzed the prior year due to a related illness. Douglas was predeceased by his wife Connie Bedford Marx of Susquehanna, PA who he loved until and after her death.  Doug cherished his father Peter Jacob Marx who died December 2012.

Doug was a caring friend and loving uncle, husband, brother, and son.  Doug is survived by his mother, Jean Marx of Point Harbor, NC and his sister Lori Marx of Piscataway, NJ.

Douglas was a critical care nurse registered at Newton, NJ.  He also was an avid Amateur Radio Operator and had been a volunteer fireman since 1986.  Doug  was a member of Mt. Horeb and Mt. Bethel Fire Departments and also the Dunellen Rescue Squad-  all in NJ.  Doug was a military vehicle restorer and enjoyed driving children and vets on countless parades. Doug had friends all over the world and on the Space Station- he was always one for an adventure.

A multi-talented individual, Doug had a degree in electronics from DeVry University, an Associates in Science from Union County College (NJ), and a Nursing degree from Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ.

Douglas was a member of Saint Andrews Episcopal Church in Nags Head, NC. A memorial service will be conducted at the St. Andrews Chapel at 10 am Wednesday August 19, 2015. The final resting place will be beside his late wife, Connie in Starruca Cemetery, in Starruca, PA.
