Dorothy Virginia Robinson

Frisco – Dorothy Virginia Robinson (nee Pettitt) passed away unexpectedly at her home on January 9th in Frisco, NC at the age of 86.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Margie Randall, and husband Clint. Grandsons Ken Randall, and wife Shannah, Tom Randall, and wife Alicia. Great-granddaughters Lauren James, and husband Dustin, Taylor Randall, Erin Randall, and Madison Randall. The newest love of her life was her great great-granddaughter Rilee James. She is preceded in death by her husband John, son Stanley, Jr, and her siblings Robert, Leonard, Hazel, and Jimmy.
Dorothy was born on January 17, 1929 in Fairfax, VA to Guy and May Pettitt. She spent most of her lengthy career as a comptroller for various businesses in Virginia and then Hatteras Island. She had many fond memories of her co-workers and employers that she liked to share. She was extremely active in the Winchester, VA chapter of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed traveling with her husband John and acquired many dear friends during this time. After John’s passing in 1989 she moved to Hatteras Island to be close to her daughter and family. She joined the Cape Hatteras Baptist Church shortly after settling in Frisco, where she quickly made numerous friends that she dearly loved and cherished throughout the years.
She was the perfect embodiment of a dignified, beautiful southern lady. She had a generous spirit and was quick to offer praise and a hug in times of accomplishment, or when anyone needed a little comfort. She loved spending time with family and friends and was always proud and boastful of her four great-granddaughters, not only for their achievements but for their character. Her love of life, quick wit, determination, and the sparkle in her eye will never be forgotten but will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and truly loved her.
The family would like to thank Dare County EMS and all the first responders for their efforts and compassion exhibited during a very emotional and heartbreaking moment. We would also like to thank the members of Cape Hatteras Baptist Church and the entire Hatteras Island community for their condolences and support. The amount of love that has been displayed for Miss Dottie has helped ease the tremendous pain of our loss.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 6pm on January 12th, at the Cape Hatteras Baptist Church in Frisco, NC, with a reception to follow at the church. Pastor Russ Howard will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Cape Hatteras Baptist Church at PO Box 156, Frisco, NC 27936.
