Dorothy L. McClease Johnson

Poplar Branch – Dorothy L. McClease Johnson died in Norfolk, VA Monday September 7, 2015 in Norfolk, VA.  She was born December 14, 1954 in Manteo, NC.  to the late George McClease Sr. and Dorothy Saunders McClease Gillard. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary.

Dorothy was raised in a strong Christian faith and became a member of Macedonia Disciples of Christ Church at very early age.  She attended the Currituck County public schools. Dorothy loved cooking and attending church on Sundays no matter whose church it was. “Lil Ma”  was loved by many and will be remembered for her joyous spirit and the smiles she brought to many faces.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory; her daughter Kyzie Bruno (Melissa); her grandchildren, Lyric Johnson, and Symphany Lanier; her sister Earnestine “Pinky” Everette; brothers, George McClease (Sulinda), Allen Gillard (Christie); her aunts, Jennette Armstrong, Sandra Faye Harvey and Maggie Sanders and Mary Conway, uncles, Gene Harvey and Joe Harvey (Rosheen); special family friends, Ms. Maria Futrell, Mr. William Ross, and Mr. Reggie Ross; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The home-going service will be Friday September 11, 2015 at Macedonia Disciples Church of Christ in Poplar Branch, NC at 2 pm.  The visitation will be held at Macedonia Church Thursday September 10, 2015 from 6 pm to 8 pm.   The burial and committal will follow the funeral in the Macedonia Church Cemetery. Elder Amecia Charity will be the eulogist.
