Desiree M. Feyer
Desiree Marie Feyer, 43, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Born on December 2, 1982, in Noblesville, Indiana, Desiree lived a vibrant and adventurous life filled with love for her family, the ocean, and the beauty of nature. Desiree spent her early years in Virginia, attending Alliance Christian School from Kindergarten through 10th grade before graduating from Lawrence Academy in Merry Hill, North Carolina, in 2001. She pursued her passion for design at East Carolina University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design in 2005.
After college, Desiree found joy on the water working as a boat captain in Ocracoke, North Carolina, and Key West, Florida. She captained parasail trips, fishing charters, and dinner cruises with skill and enthusiasm. An accomplished boater, she proudly held her 50-ton Vessel Captain’s License. In addition, Desiree contributed to the family business working at Feyer Ford over the years in various roles.
Desiree’s artistic talents were remarkable. She was an incredible artist who expressed herself through painting and mixed media projects inspired by the ocean and nature she loved so deeply. Her creativity and expertise also extended to home decorating where she added her warmth and touch to her home.
Desiree is survived by her precious sons Reece Feyer and Bodie Memory; her father Dick Feyer; brothers Chad Feyer (Amy) and Eric Feyer (Anne Michelle); nieces Olivia Feyer, Julia Feyer, Addisyn Feyer, Makenzie Feyer, and Brooklyn Feyer; and grandfather John Kool along with valued aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother and dearest friend Renae Feyer; also her grandmother Sharon Kool; and grandparents Gerrit & Corry Feyer.
Desiree was truly happiest by the water. She loved being on a boat or by the ocean in North Carolina or Florida. She had an overwhelming compassion for animals of all kinds, picking up snakes who needed rescuing, and making a home for any stray cat or dog who needed one. She saw the beauty around her and would transfer it to a canvas with paint. She loved music and singing along to Billy Joel, Elvis or 90’s rap with her dad and brothers. She treasured her family – immediate and extended – and valued the relationships and legacy of being a Feyer and a Kool. Above everything else her greatest love and the pride and joy of her life was her two boys, Reece and Bodie. Her legacy of love lives on through them.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, May 17th, 2026 at 3pm on the beach with beach access across from Black Pelican Seafood Company, 3848 N. Virginia Dare Trail, Kitty Hawk, NC 27949.
