Deborah Powell
Deborah “DJ” Powell, 59, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2023. DJ had a passion for life and never met a stranger. Her smile was infectious and she will be missed by everyone who’s life she touched. She is predeceased by her father, Carl Siperko.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelsey Otwell; her granddaughter, Leylani Otwell; her mother, Elizabeth Frey; her sisters, Karen Mabe (Rick) and Shirley Peppler (Doug); her brother, Arthur W. Jones, II; 2 special aunts, Millie Robinson and Diane Parks; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, along with countless friends who loved her very much.
A celebration of life will be held 2pm on July 28, 2023 at the Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head. Please share condolences with the family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.

My heart is heavy with sadness to have lost my beautiful niece..she had a hugh zest for life & a smile to match..always trying new things..rest easy Debbie..you're at peace now.. Love, Aunt Millie

DJ was a joy to work with and a great friend. She was always optimistic and bright, connecting immediately with everyone she encountered. You will be greatly missed, DJ. Sending condolences to your family, whom you loved so fiercely.
I just don't have the right words for how much DJ meant to me and my kids. She was Grammie D to them and a second mom to me. Through good times and bad, I never doubted how much she loved us and us her. I'm still in shock that this beautiful person is no longer here with us. I pray for healing for everyone that will be missing her here and know that she is now a guardian angel for all of those she loved.
I am saddened to learn that DJ has been called home to Heaven. I hope all of her family and friends can find comfort in knowing that she no longer has any pain.
