David Monroe Parker

Frisco- David Monroe Parker, 71 died in Nags Head, February 2, 2013. David was born in Nash County, NC March 16, 1941. He was the son of the late William Parker and Mary Pridgen Parker. David was also predeceased by his brothers, Marvin Parker, and Herman Parker.

Being very mechanically inclined, David enjoyed repairing engines and motors and watching NASCAR. Locally, he repaired engines for several race car drivers. David also founded a local turf company in Currituck, and years later began constructing landscapes for several notable golf courses.

David eventually met and married his wife of 18 years, Frisco native, Carolyn Scarborough Parker. After David retired from the golf industry, the couple retired to Frisco, where they enjoyed family time and attending church.

Surviving David Parker is his wife Carolyn of the Frisco, NC residence; his sons I.G. Scarborough (Jennifer) of Buxton, NC, and Allen Scarborough (Candace) of Colington, NC ; two granddaughters, Mellissa Rich (Kenny) ; Kathryn Scarborough ; two grandsons, Aaron Scarborough of Ashville, NC and Ryan Scarborough of Buxton, NC; two great- granddaughters Lillian Vera Rich and Bella Rich both of Ashville, NC, four sisters, Anita Anderson of Goldsboro, NC, Jean Woods of Red Oak, NC, Hazel Turner, and Mary Etta Pridgen, both of Rocky Mount, NC ; three brothers, Floyd Parker, Leaston Parker, and Homer Parker, all of Rocky Mount, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and old friends.

The funeral and committal service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday February 6, 2013 at Heritage of Faith Church in Frisco. The Reverend Dwight Burrus will be the eulogist. Burial will be private in the Farrow Family Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the on-line register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com .
