Charles J. Cantrell

Duck, NC- Charles J. Cantrell, originally of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, died in Virginia Beach, Virginia Thursday August 28, 2008. He was 75.  Charles Cantrell was born March 21, 1933 in New York City.  He was the son of the late Harry Cantrell and Ranka Buchan Cantrell.

Charles served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then built a successful career as a civil engineer working on projects that spanned the east coast. Charles was also employed for many years as a construction superintendent.

He was married nearly 40 years to his wife, Marie A. Cantrell.  The two retired together to the Outer Banks and resided in Duck for the past ten years.  Charles enjoyed working on the couple’s rental properties and doted on his four cats.

Left to cherish the memory of Charles J. Cantrell is his devoted wife Marie Cantrell of the Duck residence, and his two sisters Rose Buchan and Mary Buchan of Johnstown, Pennsylvania.

A visitation was held at Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home in Johnstown on Sunday August 31, 2008.  Funeral services were held Monday September 1, 2008 at St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church. Interment followed the services at Saint Petka’s Serbian Orthodox Cemetery in Johnstown.  Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted to assist the family with local arrangements.
