She was born on Jan. 27, 1942, in Creswell, NC to Joseph H. and Elizabeth F. Woodley. Betty Jo was predeceased by her parents and by her grandson, Joseph “Joey” Bradley Noble.

Betty Jo’s parents left Creswell, NC when she was just a baby to seek their fortune in Norfolk Va. There she attended Granby High School. Later, she would attend Libby’s Beauty School where she became a licensed beautician. She moved to the Outer Banks in 1975 working many years at Professional Floors and at small local beauty shops.
