Betty J. Harr Gallek
Betty J. Harr Gallek, 85, of Southern Shores, NC,(formerly of Slickville), died in Southern Shores, NC on Sunday, January 18, 2009. She was born April 23, 1923 in Hostetter, Pa., a daughter of the late Ralph N and Stella Weatherton Harr. A homemaker and a former employee of the Cloverleaf Supper Club, she was a longtime member of St. Sylvester Church, Slickville, the Rosary Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 and most recently Holy Redeemer Church, Kitty Hawk, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Fulalia H. Baker; two brothers, John W. and Ralph F. Harr, and a grandson, Benjamin J. Gallek. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John J. Gallek; daughter Patricia J. Gallek of Southern Shores, NC; two sons Stanley J. Gallek and his wife Deb of Saltsburg and Larry J. Gallek of Southern Shores, NC; a sister, Virginia(Ginny) Atkins and her husband Russ of Scottsdale, AZ; five grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Megan, Craig, Nathan, Jessica and Pamela; two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Lucas, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gallek’s family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 & 6-8PM at Bash-Nied Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont 724-468-8381. Fr. James Goldberg will celebrate a funeral mass Friday 10AM at St. Sylvester Church, Slickville. A chapel committal service will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Should friends desire, memorial remembrances may be made in Mrs. Gallek’s name to St. Sylvester’s Church, Slickville, Pa. 15684.
