Bentley Wilson Sorey
Southern Shores – Bentley Wilson Sorey (Ben), proud father and supportive husband passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family April 29, 2017. Ben spent time in the military as a Navy Corpsman, and he worked in the mortgage business before starting his own business, Ben Sorey Auto Racing and Repair, in Virginia Beach. He retired and moved to the Outer Banks with his family in 2006.
Ben grew up in East Lake, North Carolina. He was passionate about cars and drag racing. He started working on cars at a very young age. He is remembered for his many racing adventures by his friends in Suffolk, and at Creeds Raceway. Ben enjoyed boating and fishing, and he loved to buy, repair, and sell cars, boats, and campers as long as it was a good deal and had a motor!
Ben was predeceased by his mother Grace Bernadette Sorey and his brother Michael Sorey. He is survived by his wife, Page, and daughters, Brittany, Caroline, and Annie. His daughters were his pride and joy. He also leaves behind friends and his racing family.
To honor his request, we will have a party at his home (instead of a funeral service), on his birthday, June 17th, at 4pm. We invite his friends and loved ones to attend. In lieu of flowers, please consider purchasing a luminary for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in honor or in memory of a loved one who is or has had cancer.
Condolences may be expressed via the on-line register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
