Belva Davis Davenport
Plymouth- Mrs. Belva Davis Davenport, age 85, of Plymouth, NC died at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth on Sunday January 6, 2013. Born in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Levi H. Davis and Mattie B. Gurkin. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur Coy Davenport, Jr.; sisters, Madeline Hopkins, Lena Mae Kendrick, and Renda Daniels, and brothers, Levi Davis and Bobby Davis.
Mrs. Davenport worked as a sales clerk at the Peebles Store in Williamston, NC; a nurse at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth, and later, her husband and she ran a family-owned grocery /fast food store in Plymouth. Mrs. Davenport was a member of First Christian Church.
The family of Mrs. Davenport includes a brother, Durham Davis of Dardens, NC; a son, Wilbur C. Davenport, III, and wife Addie of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Patsy Denson and husband Jim of Nags Head, NC; Naomi Davenport of the home, and Renda Gardner and husband, Jim of Pinetops, NC; grandchildren, Dana Soots, Lauren Honeycutt, Amanda Davenport and Jim and Doug Gardner; and great-grandchildren, Davis Soots, Jackson Honeycutt, and Bryce Gardner.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Christian Church of Plymouth. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church in Plymouth at 1 :30PM Wednesday January 9, 2013.
