Barbara Mills Sircey

Barbara Mills Sircey, 73, passed away on May 1, 2025, from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a relentlessly progressive neurologic disorder. Born on February 24, 1952, in Asheville, North Carolina, Barbara was a woman of deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a vibrant creative spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ruth and Woodrow Mills, and her half-brothers, Barry and Bill Mills. She is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Leonard Sircey; her loving sisters, Margaret (Mills) Bowers and husband Steve, and Linda (Mills) Russell and husband Bobby; her dear cousin, Patty (Wilson) Ray; her children, Scott Sircey and wife Heather, and Jennifer Booth and husband Matt; and her cherished grandchildren: Ashley and Blake Booth, and Braylyn and Bryten Sircey. She is also remembered fondly by several beloved nieces and nephews, and her treasured pets, Bentley and Zach.
Barbara spent most of her life in Asheville, where she enjoyed a successful career, retiring as Assistant Vice President of Asheville Savings and Loan. She was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Asheville and remained active in church life after retiring to Manteo, North Carolina. In Manteo, she was a dedicated employee at Island Pharmacy, where she formed wonderful and lasting friendships, and later served as Administrative Assistant at Roanoke Island Presbyterian Church.
A talented and imaginative soul, Barbara loved to draw and create. She adored her family and found immense joy in her grandchildren. Her deep affection for poodles began at age 17 with her first dog, Zsa-Zsa, and continued throughout her life.
A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Roanoke Island Presbyterian Church, with Minister Michelle Lewis officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the Outer Banks SPCA, an organization dear to her heart. Please leave a message of comfort at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
