Barbara Holland

Kill Devil Hills- Barbara Holland, 71, passed away Thursday January 17, 2013 in Greenville, NC. She was born May 12, 1941 in Pitt County, NC.

Barbara grew up in Norfolk, VA and attended Grandby High School where she met Charles Holland. They were married on October 24, 1958. Barbara and Charlie had two children April and Charles.

Barbara was a cosmetologist. At one time in her life she owned a cosmetology school in Virginia. She loved working with people and soon after moving to the outer Banks, opened the Hair Visions Salon. She also loved fishing and fished in the Nags Head Surf Fishing Tournament. When her health would not allow her to fish, she judged at the tournament.

Barbara was also a volunteer at Hotline Too thrift store where she ran the cash register. She loved to talk to people. Last year Barbara joined the crew at Mulligan’s where she was a hostess. Barbara was also a member of the Senior Women’s Club, and the Red Hat Society. She loved to travel and spent time on her computer planning trips like no other. She loved to meet different people and explore new places with her aunts.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory is her sister, Janice Neuman of Hatteras; one daughter, April Holland; one son Charles “Chet” Holland both of the Outer Banks; three grandsons, Caleb Grant of Norfolk, VA and Sage and Jacob Holland of the Outer Banks. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday January 23, 2013 at 2 pm at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel MP 16 in Nags Head. Condolences to the family may be expressed via the on-line register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
