Barbara Hazen Craighead

Wanchese-  Barbara Hazen Craighead of Wanchese died in Norfolk July 14, 2015 encircled in the loving arms of her family.  Barbara was born in Painted Post, New York.  She was the daughter of the late Alson and Nellie Hazen and the wife of the late Lawrence Hayes Craighead. Sr. Barbara was also preceded in death by her oldest child,  Bernice C. Armstrong.

Barbara led a life full of rich experiences, hard work, and devotion to her family.  She raised her family while working as valued retail assistant in several local businesses where she was well respected by her bosses and customers alike. After retiring she enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, and spending lots of time with her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children; Connie Leary and husband Keith Leary Laura Kee and husband Kenneth Kee, Lawrence Craighead Jr. and Charles Craighead and wife Cindy Craighead; her grandchildren; Bryant Runkles, Lauren Ball, James Ball Jr., and Lindsey Kee; four great-grandchildren, and a host of other extended family members.

Plans are currently pending for a celebration of Barbara’s life.
