It is with great sadness the family of Audrey Mae Farrow of Avon, North Carolina announce her passing on Monday September 23, 2024. She peacefully passed away at Outer Banks Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 77 years old.
Audrey loved her church and served as a past lay leader for St. John United Methodist Church in Avon, North Carolina. She taught throughout the years as a Sunday school teacher for the young adult and later the adult class. She shared her love of music by singing in the choir at church and serving faithfully as the narrator for the Christmas pageant at St. John.
Audrey was an active volunteer whenever she was needed at the church; also, Audrey always had a hug for all and she knew no strangers. Her positive attitude, twinkling eyes, warm hugs, and ready laugh were well known by her friends and family.

She leaves behind her four children. Ervin Farrow, Tabitha Filer (Jack), Kermit Farrow, and Matthew Farrow (Brittany). She was known fondly as Nanny to 13 grandchildren: Gary Farrow, Justin Farrow (Ashley), Kerry, Jr Hooper (Courtney), Krystal Harris (Billy), Tyler and Austin Hooper, Kermit Jr., Brandon, Thomas, and Gabriella Farrow, and Kaylie, Amerika, and Matthew Farrow. My deepest sympathy to Audrey's family. I have fond memories of her growing up next door when we were young. She was always friendly and smiling with a good heart. She's in the arms of the angels now.
During the last year that mom and dad (Vera and Manson Meekins) were able to stay in their Kinnakeet home, I took mom to Sunday School many Sundays. EVERY Sunday mom would say, “Isn’t Audrey a wonderful Sunday School teacher?” I always enthusiastically agreed because yes she was! As a kid I often saw Audrey walking the roads with her girlfriends or out at Charles’s. I can see her now. I didn’t know her really until we were both grandmothers but grew to love her as everyone who knew her did. I know ya’ll, her family and close friends, are missing her deeply and always will. That smile…so sorry yet looking forward to seeing it again.
Audrey's kindness and loving presence has been a blessing to our family many times over the years. She was a terrific Sunday School teacher...so patient and dear with everyone, especially our mother "Miss Vera" Meekins. Her presence on her porch swing in the afternoon brought us many smiles. She will be deeply missed by many.
So sorry to hear of Audrey's passing. She was a true Kinnakeet nice lady. She will be missed by the village. Condolences to the family.
