  2. Stella, I’m sorry to hear of your Moms passing. She always made sure I ate good at the School cafeteria when I worked at the Board of Education! I always enjoyed talking with her.I haven’t seen her in many years but have spoken with her on the phone.She will be missed by many.

  5. I grew up on the south side of the Coinjock Canal. I knew all of the Roberts children.
    They were all good children. Their mother was my school bus driver for several years. I worked at Griggs Elementary School for 26 years before retiring. Audrey worked as manager of the cafeteria for several years before I retired. She loved the children and had a heart for their needs. I’m sure she will be missed by many.

Audrey R. Forbes

Audrey Forbes, 89, of Kitty Hawk, NC died peacefully Tuesday, February 6, 2024. Born in Currituck, Audrey was the daughter of the late Oscar and Eva Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tran Forbes; and her siblings, Oscar Roberts, Kenneth Roberts, Jean Heath and Stella McHorney.

Audrey retired from Currituck County Schools as a cafeteria manager and enjoyed knitting, quilting, and cooking.

Audrey is survived by her daughter, Stella Bateman (Scott) of Kitty Hawk, NC; four grandchildren, Savannah Turonis (William), Ethan Bateman, Nicholas Bateman (Anastasiia) all of Chapel Hill, NC, and Caden Bateman of Kitty Hawk, NC

Audrey’s graveside funeral service will be held at Waterlily Cemetery in Coinjock, NC on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00am. The family will greet friends at the Coinjock Clubhouse immediately following the service. Pastor Heath Jackson will officiate.
