Arnold L. Head

March 5, 2024

Arnold Livingston Head of Kitty Hawk, NC passed away on March 5, 2024, at the age of 81.  A longtime resident of Kitty Hawk and Nags Head, he was born on May 19, 1942, in Asheville NC.  He was the son of the late Arnold Clifton and Annie Laurie Leeson Head of Asheville. He was also preceded in death by his brother Daniel Head.

Arnold was a dedicated husband and father who loved traveling with his family and spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He also greatly enjoyed living close enough to his grandchildren to watch them grow up. He was a banker for 40 years starting his banking career in Raleigh, where he met his wife Carol of 57 years, eventually going to work at Planters Bank in Siler City.  Arnold was also a reserve Police Officer in Siler City and taught firearms training to all of Chatham County law enforcement during this time.

He then moved with his family to the Outer Banks where he found a wonderful place to eventually retire from RBC Bank, making lifelong friends along the way. Arnold was honored to serve as Chair of the Board of North State Trust and even attended meetings by zoom when he was no longer able to travel. He was a founding member of the Outer Banks Gun Club in Manns Harbor. Arnold was always willing to help and was a strong advocate for firearms safety.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Head, a daughter Brandi Bohanan (Brad), a son Arnie Head (Rebecca), a niece Jaime Head, and two special grandchildren Sydney Rheubottom and Daniel Head.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2024, at Grace Lutheran Church By-the-Sea, Nags Head. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the church with Pastor Pete Grana officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  Gallop funeral home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
