Annie Lou Gaskins

Annie Lou Gaskins, 89, of Ocracoke NC, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023. Annie Gaskins was born on March 13, 1934. She was the daughter of Thurston Gaskill and Helen Williams of Ocracoke. Annie graduated from Ocracoke School and shortly after married Earl Hill Gaskins. Annie traveled with Earl Hill during his military service in the Coast Guard. They were stationed in Atlantic Beach, Florida and Cheboygan, Michigan. After returning home to Ocracoke, she worked at Ocracoke school where she had the opportunity to travel as a chaperon to many European countries with the school kids.
Annie and Earl Hill had five children: Donna Helen Boor, Marlene Mathews (husband Randal), Lou Ann Gaskins, Earl Hill Gaskins Jr. (wife Lynn) and Keith Gaskins (wife Janet). Annie had eight grandchildren: Beach, Justin, Lacey, Jennifer, Amanda, Kaylee, Spencer, and Reese. She had seven great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Bailey, Essie, Axel, Pierce, Mila, and Kinsley.
Annie loved spending time with family and having everyone around. Some of her hobbies included reading, painting, beach rides, people watching, eating cake for breakfast, playing mah-jongg on her iPad, and watching Hallmark movies. Annie’s passions were making pottery and glassmaking. She had a studio in her backyard where she spent many hours making wonderful pottery and glass art.
A celebration of life will be held in the early months of the 2024 new year. Date and time are to be determined. Please share condolences with the family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

Truley sorry to read about Mrs Gastons ,my husband an I were station in Chebyogn spring of 68 that’s where we met ,was young a just had my first daughter ,was from Wanchese !being so young an far away from home ,was so very glad to meet someone from home ,, met her again in 2004 .
We were so sorry to hear of Annie Lou’s passing. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by everyone. We pray that God’s peace and strength will be with you during this difficult time. Love and prayers.
