Abram (Abe) H. Shank

Southern Shores – Abram (Abe) H. Shank, 82, died July 7, 2014 in Southern Shores, NC. Born October 14, 1931 to Norman and Elizabeth Shank, he is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Myers Shank, 2 children, David Shank (Pam) and Joan Claxton (Rick), 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and brothers John and James.

He was a graduate of Manheim High School (PA) in 1948 and graduated Franklin and Marshall College (Lancaster, PA) in 1952 with a degree in accounting. Following graduation he was employed by the General Accounting Office in Washington, DC for 7 years. He attained certification as a public accountant (C.P.A.) and enjoyed a fulfilling career in private practice in the DC area. In 1996 he retired from the McLean, VA firm of Renner, Schrade and Shank. At that point he and his wife moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where they enjoyed golf, the beach and time with family. He volunteered with SCORE and Duck United Methodist Church where he served as Finance Chairman for 10 years.

Memorial services will be held July 14, at 10:00 AM at Duck United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Duck United Methodist Church.
