William Joel “Joe” Sutton

March 20, 2023

William Joel Sutton or “Joe” as most knew him of Kill Devil Hills, NC, went to be with The Lord Monday March 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was 64. Joe was born in Alamance County to the late A.J. and the late Theda Sutton. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ray Sutton.

Joe was a United States Navy Veteran and was proud of his service. With a laid-back disposition, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and playing with his dogs Bella, Jethro, and Pumpkin. He enjoyed sitting on the beach and watching the waves roll in. Joe was also an avid book reader, loved Duke basketball, and watching game shows.  An outdoorsman his whole life, Joe enjoyed camping, canoeing, fishing, and just sitting by a fire. Music was a life-long passion of Joe’s, with The Beatles always being his favorite. He would sing karaoke every chance he got. Joe was a man that loved life and family to the fullest. He will be missed by so many.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Braunda of the Kill Devil Hills residence; his son, Shawn “Spanky” Sutton of Burlington, NC; his step-son, Dustin Perry also of Kill Devil Hills; one grandson, Cameron Sutton; his brother, Mike Sutton (Nancy), as well as several nieces and nephews and close friends.

The family is honoring Joe’s directives for cremation and the family will host a private memorial gathering at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s honor can be made to the Dare County Animal Shelter. Share comfort and condolences with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
