William C. McAmis

William C. McAmis of Kill Devil Hills, NC formerly of Lovettsville, VA passed away on May 26, 2025.  Born in McMinn County, TN on August 30, 1928.  Bill was one of five children of the late Charlie and Bonnie McAmis.

He remained devoted to his loving wife of 67 years, the late Hazel McAmis; his three daughters, Carolyn Smith (John), Marilyn Gingras (George), and Martha Williams (the late Glen Williams); his seven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Bill was a man of principle and commitment throughout his life with a strong work ethic.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a heavy equipment operator, welder and mechanic.  Bill enjoyed tinkering with anything and everything.  There was nothing he couldn’t fix or make.  He also collected antiques and enjoyed farming.

Bill will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Lovettsville, VA. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with local arrangements.
