Rosemarie McGillen

Rosemarie McGillen or “Rosie” as she was known to family and friends died Saturday January 13, 2007. She was 82.  Born in Duesseldorf, Germany, September 28, 1925, Rosie McGillen resided in Southern Shores, North Carolina for the past 12 years.

Before moving to the Outer Banks, Rosie lived for many years with her husband and son in Springfield, Virginia.  While raising her son and working as a homemaker, Rosie managed to start a dog grooming business and trained other dog groomers. She also produced and published a newsletter for a leading insurance company, and became a talented cook.  For many years, Rosie also enjoyed playing tennis.

Left to cherish the memory of Rosemarie “Rosie” McGillen is her devoted husband of 41 years, George F. McGillen of Southern Shores, her son Patrick (Judith) McGillen and Marc Jett and Kimberly Jett all of Point of Rocks, Maryland, and a host of dear friends.  The McGillen family will hold a memorial service at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel, 6917 South Croatan Highway Nags Head Wednesday January 17, 2007 at three o’clock in the afternoon. Officiating will be Minister Edward McCullough.
