  1. We are so sorry, to hear of Ron’s passing. Ron and his wife Jody were, both, such nice people. I always enjoyed running into Ron, at the Corolla Post Office, and catching up with him. Ron will truly be missed! God bless!!!!

  2. So sorry for your loss. I met Ron through a group for widowed people, he chatted with us daily up until he moved. Ron will be missed. Praying for the family.

  3. Sad to hear we lost our patriarch in our Widsters & Widbros group. The two years we all met up was so much fun. Not going to be the same. Ron’s well known words, *Carry On* and bear hugs will be missed.

  4. So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I am part of an online widow’s group that got together in person in different locations the past 2 years. That’s how I came to know Ron. I loved Ron’s sense of humor and how accepting he was of everyone. You will be missed by many, Ron. I am thankful to have known you. Prayers for the family and friends.

  5. I was close to Ronnie in our sophomore year and stayed that way for a couple of years after graduation in 1967. Ronnie went to W&M and found himself not being the Top Dog and it was difficult for him and led his path to Vietnam. Ronnie was always a hero in so many ways but like so many humans during that time what had once been normal and comfortable no longer was and he began to look for a new way to live. Around 1974 we went separate ways. I always had love for Ronnie and missed his humor, his strength to persevere, his perspective on life in a very muddy world. It does my heart good to see the loving comments of those who knew him in his adult life and I hope he found the peace and security in life for which he yearned. The World is a much poorer place without him.

  6. I was a high school teammate of Ronnie’s. He was a great leader on and off the field. I had hoped to see him again but that didn’t happen. So much to talk to him about that will never be said. My condolences to his family.

  7. I remember Ronnie as a good team mate and an outstanding quarterback with a wicked sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

  8. Many years have gone by since I’ve seen or talked with Ronnie, but I have many memories of high school with him. He always seemed older, more like a grown up man while most of us were trying to learn to shave. He was the first person to carry around a copy of “Catcher in the Rye.”

  9. Dearest Gibson Family,

  10. I worked with Ron and his wife Jody for many years. What a kind man who told it like it was. His golden, Doodle, was one of my pups. I’m sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to the family.

  11. I am very sad to hear of Ron’s passing. I knew him & Jody while working at a veterinarian hospital. They both were loving, sweet wonderful people. It broke my heart of Jody’s passing and now hearing of Ron’s passing just makes me cry. To his family, i ask God to bless you. Ron was an amazing man. All my love, Kim

  12. Ronnie was the cornerback on my side of the line (I was the defensive end) in 1965 I think it was. This was the year we went 7-1-2, tying Hermitage (John Browns first game against his old boss Chester Fritz) and I think Tucker. Ronnie was one of my very favorite teammates. He was a great leader and a very soft-spoken guy. He & I kept track together all year after game 1 which we lost, (I could not play due to a broken wrist), that no team scored a running touchdown on our side of the line. That also included Davey Crockett (T), Doug Moyer at Middle Guard, and I believe, Wayne Dunn at (LB). If not it was Ziggy. So sorry for Ronnie’s family that he has left us.
