Robert Siegel

Southern Shores- Robert Siegel, 85 of Southern Shores, NC and Pleasantville, NY died at home in Southern Shores on September 17, 2009 from complications of polycythemia vera. Bob is survived by his loving wife Norma, his beloved daughter Joanne and son Peter, his adored grandchildren Erica and Sarah and devoted brothers David and Dick.  Bob was an ensign during WWII in command of an LCT in the Pacific.  He was a graduate of Antioch College, Yale Law School, and CCNY School of Architecture.  He and Norma retired to Southern Shores in 1993 from their home in Usonia, Pleasantville, NY.

 

Throughout his life Bob pursued his love of art through studying, designing and building.  In retirement Bob volunteered for Score, served as President of the SS Civic Association, and was chairman of the ARB.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his positive outlook on life, his strong belief in civil liberties, and his love of  family, architecture and education.  He will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held October 10, at 2:00 P.M. at his home.  Contributions in his memory may be made to ACLU or Community Home Care and Hospice of Elizabeth City, NC.
