Robert H. Sasnett, Sr.
Robert H. Sasnett, Sr, lovingly known as “Hugh” passed away suddenly on December 6, 2025, at the age of 77, in Kill Devil Hills, NC.
Born on December 18, 1947, in Norfolk, Va. Hugh lived a life marked by love, humor, and some of the most simple joys he held dear. Hugh attended JP Knapp High School and graduated in 1968. While in school he was part of FFA, Vocational Club, and the Monogram Club. where he lettered. While in high school, he played basketball and baseball where he lettered in both sports. After graduation, he served his country as a member of the United States Army.
Hugh was an avid UNC Tarheels fan, found peace in the outdoors, especially while fishing and hunting, enjoyed training his labs to hunt, and never passed up the chance to welcome another cat into his home. He had a profound love for softball, becoming a well-known Coach to many girls of many ages throughout the county to include his daughter and granddaughter. He had the joy of picking the freshest strawberries to drop off weekly for his granddaughter. He loved his coffee, mountain dews, chicken livers, and his hotdogs.
He was a longtime resident at Spring Arbor in Kill Devil Hills, NC. He will be remembered by all as someone who could also crack a joke and keep you laughing. Spring Arbor residents, nurses, and staff would always find their way to his side knowing that they would always see his contagious smile and be in for a lengthy conversation.

Condolences
Robert (as we knew him at Spring Arbor) has been a good friend to me. We shared lots of laughs, appreciation of good chicken wings and a JB’s cheeseburger, and sports trivia, especially baseball. I pray he is meeting Mickey Mantle about now. Rest in peace.
