Randall R. Welser

With heavy hearts the family of Randall R. “Randy” Welser announce the passing of our husband, father, and papa on the evening of July 11, 2024 after a long battle with a chronic illness. Randy was born to the late Ronald “Ron” Welser and Doris “Dory” Welser on September 30, 1956, in Ashtabula County, Ohio and moved his family to Powells Point, NC in 1983.
Randy was the beloved husband of Petrea “Ann” Welser. They celebrated 46 years of marriage and dove seasons. He is also survived by “his girls”, his daughters, Keri Paul (Chris), Rachel Welser, and Melanie Todd (Michael); his grandchildren, who were the absolute loves of his life, Mauri (Yong), Olivia (Brendon), Ben, Mazzy, Hayden, Natalie, Ethan, Ryan and Caroline; his sisters, Treena Kukulka (Stan), Diana Baker (Kenny), Kim Welton (Rick); his brother, Mark Welser, and a host of nieces, nephews, loved ones and longtime family friends.
Randy was a master craftsman whose work can be found in many places throughout the Outer Banks community, most specifically throughout the Cotton Gin and Sanctuary Vineyards. Randy was also an avid sportsman who spent any spare time with a fishing pole in his hands or in the woods hunting. His loved ones all have an abundance of fantastic hunting and fishing stories with Randy as the main character. Character is the perfect word to describe Randy. His quick wit and hilarious comments could always be counted on.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be announced at a later date to allow the family an opportunity to plan a party to celebrate with all who loved him.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Dare County Dialysis Center and Lower Currituck EMS for their exceptional care of our beloved husband, father and papa over the past few years. Please share a word of hope with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

Dear Ann and girls, my family moved to Powells Point, December, 1984. We didn't know anybody in our neighborhood, but we were blessed to meet "THE WELSERS" and the rest is history. You were on our left side of our house, then you moved across the street, to the big house with the awesome front porch, then later you built your forever home across from our home. I could go on and on about our friendship. My mother and I were blessed to have you in our circle. I love you ALL! You are in our thoughts and prayers. Randy was just 5 lanes away, when I heard or seen something not right.

Seems like just yesterday I watched you come into our lives. I remember the day you hobbled on one leg into our living room to propose to my sister. Even that was pure Randy Welser style. The stories you have left us all with will carry us through. Glad your suffering has ended but you will be missed. We will watch over Annie and our beautiful nieces and their families. Rest now brother-in-law you have earned it.
Please know that Moma and I have you in our thoughts and prayers.
It was a pleasure taking care of Mr. Welser in the last couple of years of his life. Though I am sorry that our paths crossed the way they did...I feel honored to have known him. His wit not only helped him deal with many bumps in the road, it also helped those caring for him. Mr. Welser could always get a laugh out of me even on the most difficult days. Though he will be sorely missed...I find relief in knowing he will no longer be in pain, and/or struggling to get through the day. Fish on old man! Love, Your favorite nurse! ;)
Mrs. Ann, I am so sorry to hear this. I pray that y'all feel comfort through this difficult season. He was one of the best people I have had the honor to have met.
