Paul Cecil Denny Jr.

Manteo – Paul Cecil Denny Jr., also fondly known as “Papa Paul” 82, of Dare County, N.C., (after a long battle with cancer), stepped into the arms of Jesus on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018.

A native of Wichita, Kansas, he was the son of the late Paul Cecil Denny Sr. and Ruthalma Lou Garnett Denny and Step-mother, Esther Denny. Also predeceased by Murel (spouse), Jack (brother), and Doug(son-in-law). He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a Professor of Fine Arts with a Doctorate Degree retired from Phillips University and OSU, a wonderful Artist and Potter, a Minister of the Word of God, active member of the Lion’s Club and American Legion. When he moved to the Outer Banks of NC, he stated he had a found a piece of Heaven. Paul will be missed and loved dearly by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, soulmate and best friend, Patsy Reynolds Denny of their home, daughter, Cheryl Batchelder (Rodney), daughter, Paula DeWolf, son, Dale Denny (Jamie), step-daughter, Darlene Thomsen Sells (Doug), step-son, Chaplain ”COL” Darrell E. Thomsen, Jr.(Kitty), brother, John and sister, Mary Jeanette. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 2 great step-grandchildren.
