Paul Alfred Byberg

Paul Alfred Byberg, 86, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, in Nags Head, NC. Paul was born on November 14, 1938, in Ridgway, PA. He is reunited with his parents Wern and Clara Byberg and his daughter, Suzanne Harman. Paul graduated from Cooley High School, Detroit, MI in 1957. He attended The University of Detroit for 2 years.
Paul worked at Shatterproof Glass for several years as a computer systems analyst. In May of 1961 he married Sandra Cora and six months later he was drafted into the US Army and proudly served for 2 years. Upon completion of military service, Paul was hired at the Internal Revenue Service. He served for 30 years there in his role as a database administrator.
In 1996, Paul retired and in 2002 moved from Springfield VA to the Outer Banks of North Carolina where he owned a home since 1990. So much of Paul’s personal life was music. He started singing in church choirs at St. Mary’s of Redford in Detroit, MI at the age of 16. He continued singing in St. Edith’s in Livonia, MI, St Bernadette’s in Springfield, VA, and Holy Redeemer in Kitty Hawk, NC, all for a total of 70 years. He sang in the Outer Banks Chorus for 20 years.
Paul loved sports, playing, and watching, especially football, baseball, basketball, and golf. He was a member of Duck Woods Country Club since 2003. His special love, was GOLF and playing with his friends at the club. Many enjoyable days were spent on the course, at the bridge table and at poker games.
Paul is survived by his wife Sandra of 63 years; his son David Byberg of Woodbridge, VA his son-in-law Russell Harman (Laura) of The Villages, FL; two grandchildren, Thomas Byberg (Shantay) of Purcellville, VA and Bae Lee Harman of Nashville, TN. He also is survived by four great grandchildren, Cooper, Carlee, Allison and Kaiden Byberg, his brother, John Byberg (Helen) of South Lyon, MI and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Paul’s memorial mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. The Byberg’s extend a special thanks to Peak resources care team for their compassionate and loving care of Paul. Please share condolences with the family at Gallopfuneralservices.com.
