Michael Lee Jakob

My beloved Dad and forever best friend, Michael Lee Jakob, 47 years old, passed away on September 29, 2025 surrounded by his beloved children, Destyn Lee, Daeson and Riley Jakob.
He leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Angie Jakob; his beloved children, Destyn Lee, Daeson, Riley and stepdaughter, Nita; his mother and father, Karen and Frank, sister, Kimberly; and brother Jonathan, He also leaves behind his nephews, Taylor and Bradley; nieces, Kennedy and Ava; aunts and uncles, Joyce Waters (Randy), Roberta Midgett (Larry), Abby Jr Midgett (Sharon) and his beloved MomMom, Sylvia G Midgett; cousins and close friends, Eric Midgett, Tonya Midgett, Keela Midgett, Christin Waters, Crystal Waters and so many more that he loved and was known to as “Uncle Mike.”
He was preceded in death by his Granddad, William Avner “Abby” Midgett, Sr.; nephew, Kobie Jakob; and his uncle, Adam Jakob.
My dad was a self-taught passionate, eclectic, colorful artist who passed that the passion of expressing oneself in his art form which he proudly passed on to me and we have displayed in our home on all surfaces as well as a self-taught tattoo artist. Fishing was another passion he loved. Sharing and creating memories with Daeson and Riley whether it be fishing, debating opinions was always a highlight in his life (Daeson and Riley always caught the fish, but it was a joke among us that for some reason my Dad was always the one posing in the fish pictures).
He had a dry sense of humor, big personality with such a big heart, forever and always a Momma’s boy and he truly loved all his family and friends dearly. He would tell us to call Aunt Roberta and remind her it was his birthday again (which was a cue word meaning “bring me some cheesecake”). He loved it when friends would show up to visit with a bag of Kit-Kats and a box of Rice Krispy Treats.
Quote from my dad, “We will meet again in the next galaxy and beyond, Love to All, Mike.
We will be having a celebration of life at 2:00pm on October 12, 2025, in remembrance of our dad at the Rodanthe Waves Salvo Community Building. Family and friends are invited. Please share expressions of sympathy with the Jakob family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc was entrusted with arrangements.
