Max E. Safdy
Max E. Safdy of Point Harbor, NC passed away on June 29, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was 81. Max was born November 9, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a 1963 chemistry graduate of the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York City. In 1969 he earned his PhD in organic chemistry from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Beginning as a chemist and finishing up as a plant manager, he worked for Miles Labs (Bayer) for over 30 years in Elkhart, IN. He spent his last 20 years enjoying retirement in the North Carolina Outer Banks with his wife Jean.
In addition to being a terrific husband and father, Max had many interests in his life including music, photography, computers, gardening, amateur radio, and watching trains. He was also a gifted pianist and organist.
Max is survived by his wife, Jean, his son, David (Kim), and sister Phyllis.
There are no events planned, as Max did not wish to have services.You may make a donation to the Currituck County Animal Shelter in his honor.

I have nothing but wonderful memories of Uncle Max. He was a warm and friendly person with a great sense of humor and a kind disposition. I never heard him play, but he had great stories and told them so well. He will be missed.
