Matilda Antoni Hitchcock

Kill Devil Hills- Matilda (Tillie) Antoni Hitchcock was born November 20, 1912 in Paterson, NJ and passed away on Wednesday, September 10,2014 in Kill Devil Hills, NC.

She lived most of her life in Paterson NJ and moved to NC 21 years ago. She was an active member of the Duck United Methodist Church, and was well known throughout the community for the delicious Christmas cookies that she made. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Ella Antoni, her husband, Elwain, and sons-in-law, Paul Moneypenny and Geoffrey Smith.

She is survived by daughters, Marie Moneypenny and Ruth Smith and niece Joyce (Erik) Karlsson. Tillie is also survived by seven grandchildren, Ann (Michael), Philip (Christine), Robin (Craig), Richard (Mary), Scott, Kara, and Jane (Jay), grandniece Laura; and twelve great grandchildren, Ally, Rachel, Brandon, Megan, Benjamin, Ashe, Raine, Craig IV, Trevor, Allie, Bode, and Cooper.

A heartfelt “thank you” to the special caregivers, at Dare County Hospice, and the staff at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Home, and to the many friends from her neighborhood and her church who visited her there.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Duck United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.

A Memorial Service will be held on October 4th at 1:00 pm at the Duck United Methodist Church with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall.
