To my family during this time of grief,My thoughts, prayers & love go to you all, I saw Aunt Mary Jane last March while home on a rare visit.. of course she was cruising around.. and of course she had me laughing within minutes.. I am blessed with many memories growing up & thru the years of a Aunt who showed always so much love to me, who I saw daily at my grandma's, who could make you laugh when you felt down, one who I could joke with and she would laugh and it made you happy to hear it, a wonderful cook.. and talented..I can't tell you all the blankets & spreads I saw her knit/crochet while visiting my grandma's home..and all the times I'd go to my grandma's for a late night visit, enjoy a cold Pepsi or cup o'coffee with them and feel that instant feeling of home as I listened to them banter back & forth.. everytime I saw her she never complained of anything wrong but was always quick to ask how I was.. always quick to give a compliment.. if you were loved by my Aunt Mary Jane how lucky you were.. I saw that love over the years not only for myself but given wholeheartedly to her children, grandchildren, family, her mother & brothers to all of us. I thank God for all the love & memories she has left behind & pray for my cousins & family that you take peace & comfort in those precious times and memories.. I know one-day we'll be reunited & I know those she loved who had gone before her...along with Jesus, met her yesterday in glory with open arms.. Aunt Mary Jane" I love you..and I will miss you so very much, til we meet again.. I will cherish my memories of your always present laughter your big hugs and your beautiful smile.. Your niece, Tabitha Farrow Filer"
I’m so sorry for your loss. Mary Jane was a great lady who I enjoyed talking to. She was always cruising the village and loved to get her scratch off tickets from BP or Breeze Thru. She was a true Kinnakeeter, through and through . She will be missed by all. The village streets won’t be the same without seeing her doing the Kinnakeet 500. Rest In Peace Mary Jane. You deserve it after all you’ve done for so many over the years.
Juanita and family so sorry for the loss of Mary. She was so full of life and humor. She will be missed.
Keeping all of you in thoughts and prayers. We loved MaryJane. She always made people smile.
I will treasure all the memories with Mary Jane, she will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace 💔
My husband and I moved to the outer banks in 2000 after he retired. I still needed to work and found a job as desk clerk at the Falcon Motel then run by Doug and Ann Meekins. What a great job. One of the things that made it so pleasurable were the people I worked with. There were three housekeepers and one was Mary Jane. Mary Jane was a good, reliable housekeeper and a joy to work with. She added fun to each day. One could not be around her without having some laughs. She always had good stories and updates on lottery tickets. Guests liked her. It was normal for guests checking in for their annual stay to ask if Mary Jane was still there. During my working experience there I also had the pleasure after several years to work with a new hire, Juanita Scarborough, one of Mary's daughters. That just added to the pleasant experience of the work place. Mary was all about her family. She was a character. I am saddened by the news of her passing but am enjoying the memories.
