Mary Hardy Sansone

March 5, 2024

Mary Hardy Sansone, 90, of Jarvisburg, NC went to the Lord on March 5, 2024 in Sentara  Norfolk General Hospital. Mary was born February 17, 1934 to Van Willard and Sarah Rebecca Robbins Hardy in Rocky Mount, NC. She was predeceased by her husband Egnazio “Nay” Sansone; and grandson, Christopher Warren Fowler.

Mary was a talented and gifted pianist. She attended summer programs through the Julliard School of Music and at the age of 14, performed at Carnegie Hall. In addition to her music, Mary enjoyed guiding young people. At Mount Carmel Church in Newport News, VA she led both Brownie and JR Girl Scout troops for several years. Serving as a eucharist minister at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Mary taught religious classes to local youth in the parish.

Mary loved God and her family. She nurtured them as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and trusted friend to many. Mary is survived by four children; Sharon Moore (Phillip), Steven Sansone (Margaret Ann), Linda Twiford, Therese Keller (John); seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her close friends, Douglas Fowler and Clyde Twiford.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held Monday March 11, 2024 at 11 am at Gallop Funeral Chapel in Nags Head, NC. Tanta Lockhardt-Hendricks will officiate.
