Marion Siddon Sullivan
Kitty Hawk, NC – Marion Siddon Sullivan, 85, formerly of Morrisonville, NY, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Janis Sullivan Collins following a long battle with Alzheimer’s and its complications.
She was born on June 4, 1926 in Albany, New York, the daughter of William and Helen (Lewis) Siddon.
Marion moved to Morrisonville, NY where she attended elementary and high school. She married John L. Sullivan in 1946 and took up residence on Macomb St. in Plattsburgh, NY. When her husband was recalled to active duty for the Korean War, Marion became a military wife. She was an active member of the NCO wives clubs at several bases throughout the Far East and continental United States. In 1958, John received orders to Plattsburgh AFB and the family took up residence in Morrisonville. Marion was employed by the New York Bell Telephone Company for over twenty-five years and she retired in 1985. She was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Marion was an active member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Plattsburgh Elks Lodge where she enjoyed many friendships through golfing and bowling. She leaves behind many of these cherished friends.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. John Sullivan of West Boylston, MA, James Sullivan of Lake Placid, NY, and Joseph Sullivan of Virginia Beach, VA; two daughters, Janis Sullivan Collins of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Joan Sullivan Wright of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Beverly Lathrem of Peru, NY; and ten grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
Marion is preceded in death by her husband, and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Alexander’s Church at 11AM on Thursday, 7 June, 2012 with burial following in St Alexander’s cemetery in Morrisonville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local Hospice Volunteer Association.
A reception hosted by the family will be held following the burial at the Legends Bistro Comfort Inn, 411 Route 3, Plattsburgh, NY from 1-3 PM.
