Lois Roberta Batten

January 2, 2026

Lois Batten, born October 4, 1962, in Salem, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on January 2, 2026 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.   Lois spent the last 35 years enjoying life on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina, a place she truly called home. She was a hard worker and a kind, dependable friend who earned the respect of those around her. Until her final days, Lois continued working at Dollar Tree in Kill Devil Hills, where she was known for her work ethic, fun holiday costumes, and smiling, friendly face.   Above all, Lois deeply loved her beloved pup, Sykes, who was her constant companion and brought her great comfort and joy.

Lois is survived by her daughters and their families: Trish Lusk and her husband Dave, and their daughters Hazel and Autumn Lusk; and Christina McPherson and her husband Jeremy, and her sons Trent, Chase, and Easton Jones, all from the Outer Banks. Also surviving are her siblings, Brenda Barr of Snow Hill NC, William Barr of Colonial Beach VA, and Scott Barr of Lexington Park MD.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lois Amelia Oliver Smith, father, Robert V. Barr Sr, and siblings, George McGinness, Kathy Howell, Mary Lynn Levi, Robert V. Barr Jr, and Lawrence Barr.

Lois will be remembered for her quiet strength, generous heart, and the simple kindness she shared with others. Lois’ preference for the simplicity of cremation will be honored.  The family’s plans for a private memorial gathering are pending at this time. Please express condolences to the family via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
