Lila Alice Alger

Manteo – Lila Alice Alger, much loved mother of Paul Alger (Karen), John Alger, and Edna Campbell (Patrick), died peacefully in her sleep November 16, 2025, at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph and son Stephen, as well as her five siblings. Lila is also survived by her wonderful grandchildren Paul Joseph Alger and Dana Riley (Ray), as well as her amazing great-grandchildren Charlotte and Willow Riley. In addition, Lila had terrific friends that she missed in the last months of her life.

Mom was an amazing woman, returning to school in her 40’s. She graduated from Gwynedd Mercy College in Pennsylvania with a degree in Sociology when she was 52. She loved school and was justifiably proud of her degree. Among other jobs, Lila was head of Gerontology at two nursing homes before her retirement. She also adored her family and was always fun to hang out with.

As per Lila’s request, no services are planned. If you would like to remember Lila, she would want you to listen to your favorite piece of music. Next to her family, “Taylor Ham” sandwiches, burgers and chocolate- music was her favorite thing.
