Lewis D. Bassham

Manteo-On Monday April 9, 2012, Lewis D. Bassham passed away in Nags Head, NC. Lewis was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He was the son of the late Charles Noble Bassham and the late Constance Smith Bassham.  Lewis was also predeceased by two brothers Gerald A. Bassham and Charlie Bassham, and one sister, Constance Bassham Vernon. He graduated from William and Mary in Norfolk, Virginia.

He met his wife Barbara M. Bassham when they were both working in Burlington, North Carolina. They were married on November 29, 1958. As a Field Engineer, Lewis and Barbara travelled all over the world.  After Burlington, they lived in El Paso, Texas; Oslo, Norway; San Francisco and Los Angeles, California; Rockville, Maryland; and Destin, Florida.  After Barbara passed away in December of 2000, Lewis resided in Tampa for several years before reaching his final destination in Nags Head.

He is survived by his only daughter, Kimberly Lynne Lynch; her husband, Jeffrey Dennis Lynch; grandchildren Christina Marie Lynch and Heather Nichole Lynch; sister, Nancy Bassham; brother Richard Bassham.
