Sending hugs to Ryker, Wayland, Nathan and Lydia as I know you will miss your Granddaddy. Love, Clare Dozier

  2. Larry and I were at Mercer Law School together and spent many hours studying and working together on Law Review. He was a great guy and I thought of him and Jenny many times over the years. I will be praying for her and the family and hope to attend the memorial service. God bless!

  3. Dear Jenny, Mandy and Hayden,
So sorry to learn of Larry’s passing. A true shipmate and one of my most admired and closest friends. We shared the navy, the law and bluegrass over the years. And I got to meet and know all three of you.
    I share your sorrow.

  4. Jenny, Candace and I were so sorry to learn of Larry’s passing. Our times together with you and Larry at Mercer were special times. I lost track of Larry when he left Macon and was never able to find out where you two went. I thought of Larry often and wondered how he and you were doing. Obviously, very well! Larry was so smart and so meticulous and so funny. He was a joy to know and I’m sure countless JAG lawyers benefited greatly from Larry’s wisdom and guidance. I regret that we can’t make Larry’s service because we will have a houseful of family at the beach that week, but our prayers with be with you and Mandy and Hayden and their children.

Larry Wayne Rowe

July 10, 2025

Larry Wayne Rowe, 79, departed this life peacefully on July 10, 2025 in Nags Head, NC. Larry was born on August 27, 1945 to Othnie Lee Rowe and Evelyn Burch Rowe. He received a BA in history from the University of Richmond and a law degree from Mercer University, where he served as Administrative Editor of the Mercer Law Review, graduated with honors, and receiving numerous awards for excellence in jurisprudence.

His was a life of distinguished military service. He served in the Army as a Russian Linguist, attached to the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, MD. Following honorable discharge from the Army, Larry engaged in the private practice of law in Macon, Georgia for three years before serving as a lawyer in the US Navy, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

While serving in the Navy, Larry served as a Military Prosecutor in Pensacola, Florida, and the Head of the Military Justice Division in Jacksonville, Florida. He also was a beloved and excellent instructor at the Naval Justice School in Newport, RI, where he taught military judges and lawyers, and presented legal seminars to line officers around the world. Upon retirement from the Navy, he returned to Macon to practice law, and then, upon truly retiring, moved to Stuart, Florida and then to the Outer Banks in NC.

Larry was known for his brilliant mind, his humor and wit, and his love for his family. He taught himself to play many musical instruments (banjo, dobro, guitar), and loved bluegrass music, playing in local bluegrass bands over the years as a hobby, including the Georgia Rose Bluegrass Band. He loved a good story, a good dog, and a good day in the sun with his wife and kids.

Larry leaves behind his precious wife of 56 years, Lois Virginia (Jenny) Robinson Rowe; beloved children Mandy Sayers (Eric) and Hayden Rowe (Rachael); adored grandchildren Nathan and Lydia Sayers and Ryker and Wayland Rowe; nieces Lesley Smith and Leigh Ann Kimberlin; and many other beloved relatives and friends. He joins his beautiful sister, Carole in heaven, where we are sure they are laughing and sharing stories together.

A memorial service will be held at Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon, GA on August 16, 2025 at 11 am.  Expressions of sympathy and a fond memory may be shared with the family at gallopfuneralservices.com . Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
